About Home Care costs

We pride ourselves on providing excellent quality Home Care at competitive prices.

We adapt our Home Care services to suit your specific requirements. Our Home Care costs include a personalised care plan, ensuring your care suits your needs, wishes and budget.

We understand that paying for Home Care can feel overwhelming and complicated. We want to make the process as simple and easy as possible. When you contact your local Team, we’ll work with you to design a customised care plan.

The cost of Home Care will vary depending on the type of care you need, how often you need it, and where you live. We offer everything from short visits to 24 hour Live-in Care. If you have more complex needs, you may need two Home Carers per visit, so we can provide a cost for this too. Once you choose our service, your care plan is kept under constant review so that it continues to suit you.

Your home. Your care. Your choice.

How much does visiting care cost?

When choosing Home Care, understanding the level of care you or your loved one requires is important because it affects how much you’ll pay. We provide a wide range of Home Care services, including care for specialist conditions.

Here are some factors that will impact the cost:

Level of care

Home Care costs vary according to the type of care you need. This can be anything from Companion Care, like going out for the day, to providing specialist support for conditions such as dementia, Parkinson’s, or stroke aftercare.

Services like Personal Care or Domestic Care may require only a short visit to help you in the morning, lunchtime or evening. Comparatively, After Hospital Care may involve complex needs that require more attention. This might include checking medication has been taken or attending hospital appointments with you.

If you require more than one Carer per visit, this is called a ‘double-up’ and will impact the cost of care. Additionally, if you require extended and continuous support, such as Overnight Care or Live-in Care, the costs will inevitably be higher.

Frequency of visits

The level of care required may have an impact on the frequency of care visits needed to take care of your daily needs. For example, someone with mobility restrictions may require help in both the morning and evening with getting into and out of bed.

On the other hand, someone needing companionship may only require one daily visit to enjoy a chat over a cup of tea.

Duration of visits

Our visiting Home Care costs are determined by the length of the visit, but the visit duration depends on what you need support with.

Personal Care routines might take longer in the morning – getting out of bed, using the bathroom, dressing for the day – than a lunchtime visit where you only need help with meal preparation.

How much does Live-in Care cost?

The cost of Live-in Care can be a key part of deciding whether to stay at home or move into a care home.

Live-in Care is generally considered to be a cost effective alternative to a care home, whilst enabling you to maintain a level of independence. Everyone’s needs are different so the costs of Live-in Care can vary depending on the level of care required.

Unlike other Home Care options, the cost of our Live-in Care remains the same wherever you live across the South of England.

Why pay for Home Care?

Most adults want to age comfortably in the familiarity of their homes and may be reluctant to relocate. The significance of Home Care is that you remain in your own home and maintain independence.

Our Home Care services support you to remain active in your local community, visiting friends, family and neighbours. Having your favourite people, pets and possessions nearby can improve your mood and promote feelings of security.

Our Home Care costs are fully inclusive, so you won’t receive any hidden charges. They account for associated admin costs such as mileage, assessments of care needs, and our own quality audit visits.

We start by meeting you at home to talk through your care needs. We’ll create a comprehensive care plan that includes everything from the type of care you need, how often you need it, and the cost of Home Care. We constantly review plans to ensure they continually work for you, especially if your needs change over time.

Benefits of Home Care:

  • Receiving care in the comfort of home
  • Maintaining independence
  • Continuing relationships in the local community
  • Personalised and dedicated care
  • Affordable alternative to a care home
  • Maintaining routines
  • Creating your own bespoke care plan
  • No restrictions on visiting hours

Funding Home Care

If you’re concerned about paying for care at home and need financial aid, there are ways to fund Home Care:

Comparing care costs

Sometimes, costs can be the deciding factor when choosing between Home Care and moving into a care home. Home Care is a cost effective alternative to a care home, allowing you to receive daily help whilst living as independently as possible in a familiar environment.

Care Homes

Care homes typically charge accommodation fees, as well as meals and care services. For couples, this is especially expensive when paying for two sets of fees.

Schedules are also put in place for all residents and visiting hours mean family and friends can’t visit as often as you or they would like.

On the other hand, Home Care costs only charge for the services you receive and you remain in control of your routines.

Visiting Care

Visiting care at home is charged depending on how many hours of care you arrange each week and how long each visit lasts. A visit fee is often applied per visit.

The major benefit of visiting care compared to a care home is that you receive personalised, dedicated care. In a care home, staff attention is shared between residents, whereas Home Carers can provide care specific to your needs and preferences.

Live-in Care

Live-in Care is for those who require continuous 24 Hour Care at Home. A Live-in Carer moves into the home to provide support at any time of the day or night.

Therefore, Live-in Care costs are higher than the cost of visiting Home Care. In both circumstances, support is provided within the home so it’s important to determine what level of support you need to ensure you don’t overpay for services.

Quick questions

About Home Care costs

What’s the cost of Home Care?

Home Care costs vary depending on multiple factors. How much does Live-in Care cost?

How can I fund Home Care?

This will determine if you’re eligible for help towards your care costs and whether your local authority will provide this.

Is Home Care right for me?

Is Home Care cheaper than a care home?

According to Which?, the average cost of a care home per week in the UK is between £730-£1,038.4

For some, this may simply be unaffordable. Depending on the type of care you need, Home Care can be a cost effective alternative. This is especially true for couples who need care. However, it’s worth considering that care homes offer a different type of service than having carers in your own home. It’s a major decision that only you can make when choosing whether Home Care or a care home is right for you.

How can I arrange Home Care?

We operate a responsive service. We work hard to ensure your care is implemented as soon as possible. In most instances, we can start providing Home Care within 48 hours. To enquire about our Home Care services, find your local Alina Homecare Team today.

How do you compare to an introductory agency?

We are not a care agency; therefore, you don’t need to worry about any hidden agency fees or retainers. We have an internal Recruitment Team who employ our Carers directly so there are no additional costs of Carers to you. Our Carers go through rigorous pre-employment checks before receiving extensive induction training through our exclusive Alina Homecare Academy. Agency Carers, on the other hand, may not complete any mandatory training.

Introductory agencies don’t have to be regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and quality cannot be guaranteed. At Alina Homecare, we provide fully regulated services that are inspected by the CQC.
